Hokkaido's First International Startup Conference Launches: Utilizing Multiple Venues in a Distributed MICE Format
“Hokkaido Innovation Week”, the first international startup conference in Hokkaido, will be held for the first time from January 29 to February 2, 2024, to build a startup ecosystem in Hokkaido.
The event aims to cultivate a 'global mindset' in entrepreneurs targeting the global market, by inviting startups, investors, and startup support organizations globally to facilitate networking and business growth for startups.
The event will leverage Hokkaido's geographical and industrial strengths, developing specialized programs in three areas: 'Primary Industries & Food,' 'Space,' and 'Environment & Energy.' The goal is to transform Hokkaido into Asia's startup island, contributing to the economic revitalization of Hokkaido and Japan and realizing a sustainable society.
The five-day event will be conducted in a decentralized MICE format, utilizing a range of venues around Sapporo, including the Sapporo TV Tower, Hokkaido University, and Es Con Field Hokkaido.
By taking advantage of Hokkaido's regional characteristics and a wide range of areas, the event will offer participants a variety of experiences and a feel for the region's uniqueness. From side tours that allow experiencing Hokkaido's culture and nature to urban-style conferences in Sapporo's city facilities, a diverse range of event experiences will be provided.
Furthermore, programs that leverage the strengths of local industries will promote collaboration with local communities and businesses, contributing to regional economic revitalization.
In Hokkaido, startups like agriculture utilizing expansive farmland, sustainable business models using renewable energy, and tourism app developers exploiting Hokkaido's natural beauty, are converging.
These enterprises aim to generate new economic value in the region by utilizing local resources. The future holds promise for sustainable business model development and expansion into Asian markets, spearheaded by 'STARTUP HOKKAIDO,' the event's organizer.
